About Compare Medical Software

Compare Medical Software exists to give buyers leverage in a market designed to confuse them. We’re a free, independent quote-comparison service for U.S. medical practices evaluating EHR, practice management, billing, and telemedicine software. We don’t sell software. We don’t pick favorites. We help you get real numbers from real vendors so you can decide on your own terms.

The problem we exist to solve

The medical software market runs on asymmetry. Vendors thrive on opacity — hidden pricing, “contact sales for a quote,” multi-year lock-in contracts, $2,000–$10,000 data export fees, support tiers that quietly add 25% to total cost of ownership. Buyers want the opposite: transparent numbers, side-by-side comparison, and a way out if the system doesn’t work.

That asymmetry is the whole reason this category is broken. Software Advice alone lists 425+ EMR products. Capterra shows pricing from $274 to $8,964 a month with no clear reason for the spread. Three of the four largest comparison platforms are owned by the same parent company (Gartner). The “research” most buyers rely on is, in practice, vendor-funded directory listings.

Meanwhile, 95% of U.S. office-based physicians already have an EHR (CDC, 2024). 60% of practices report rising claim denial rates (MGMA, 2024). Physicians spend 1.4 unpaid hours a day charting after the workday ends (Stanford Medicine). Almost nobody on this site is a first-time buyer. You already have software. You’re frustrated with it. You want out without losing a year of records or signing another five-year contract sight unseen.

That’s the buyer we built this for.

How we make money (and how we don’t)

We’re paid by vendors, not by you. When you choose to engage with one of the 2–3 vendors we send your details to, that vendor pays us a referral fee. If you don’t engage with anyone, no money changes hands — yours or ours.

A few things we want to be explicit about:

  • You never pay us. The buyer side of this is free, by design.
  • We don’t sell software. We don’t have a product to push.
  • We don’t endorse a single vendor. We don’t take exclusivity deals. Our income depends on you finding a vendor you actually want to work with — not on locking you into the first one we send.
  • We share your details only with the vendors you’ve consented to compare. That’s it. See our privacy practices for specifics on what’s collected, who sees it, and how to opt out.

We tell you this up front because the rest of the category doesn’t.

Our editorial principles

  • We’re a buyer’s resource, not a vendor’s funnel. Every editorial decision starts with: does this help the practice make a better choice?
  • We don’t accept exclusivity deals from any vendor. No category sponsorships, no “preferred partner” placements that override fit.
  • We don’t rank or recommend. We present quotes side-by-side and let you decide. Rankings are how vendor-funnel sites work; we’re not one.
  • We never share your data with anyone except the 2–3 vendors you’ve consented to compare. No reselling, no data brokers, no surprise lists.
  • We tell you what we don’t know. When pricing data is incomplete or a vendor won’t disclose terms, we say so instead of filling in the blanks.

Who runs it

Compare Medical Software is operated by a small U.S. team with backgrounds in healthcare technology, lead generation, and B2B research. We work with 360Connect, an established lead-routing platform, to match practices with vetted vendor partners and process quote requests.
